Tips for gathering evidence to demonstrate your skills

The important thing to remember when gathering evidence is that the more evidence the better - that is, the more evidence you gather to demonstrate your skills, the more confident an assessor can be that you have learned the skills not just at one point in time, but are continuing to apply and develop those skills (as opposed to just learning for the test!). Furthermore, one piece of evidence that you collect will not usualy demonstrate all the required criteria for a unit of competency, whereas multiple overlapping pieces of evidence will usually do the trick!

MSFFL2016 - Install hard underlays

What evidence can you provide to prove your understanding of each of the following citeria?

Prepare for installation

  1. Applicable work health and safety (WHS), legislative and organisational requirements relevant to the installation of hard underlays are verified and complied with
  2. Instructions and/or plans are read and interpreted to identify the process required to complete work tasks
  3. Sub-floor condition is assessed for the type of underlay/floor covering to be installed
  4. Underlay material suitable to the final surface to be laid is selected
  5. Suitable adhesives and fastenings are selected
  6. Tools, equipment and materials are selected and checked prior to use to ensure that they are appropriate for the work, serviceable and in a safe condition
  7. Sequence of work is planned, including the starting point, to ensure efficiency and quality of installation
